She turns round to another man (Brown) and leaves Flagg, refuses to marry Brown. Guests arrive. She tells Flagg to ask her father for her hand, pulls him to father. Father refuses as Flagg is poor.

Woman (Maybelle) kneeling by chair & crying. She tells man to go get water. Mary prepares; husband cutting wood w/ axe & takes armload into house, building fire in fireplace.
13:20:00 Puts Maybelle into bed; scrubs up quickly. Calls man into help. Sends him to get incubator. He drives off past woman leading cow. Mary makes hot water bottle & puts him into prepared cardboard box. They wave flies away, incubator arrives w/ Nurse who says they have to keep it full of hot water all the time; man goes out to cut more wood.
13:25:12 CU of new baby stretching. Cooking meal for Maybelle & Mary. Summary of steps in preparation of umbilical cord. Ida & other daughter eating. Ida & Maybelle at clinic for six week check up.
