Adapted by US from British army instructional film - how to recognize and dispose of a butterfly bomb.
16:23:10  Two British servicemen walking along path thru trees spot butterfly bomb looking like scrap metal laying on ground.  One touches & explodes in their faces; CU bloody face.  VO They paid a heavy price for ignorance.
16:23:54  Bombed out houses.  CU of Butterfly Bomb; soldier holding.  Demonstration of how bomb opens, wings cause to rotate unscrewing spindle to arm the fuse.  Drawing showing bursting above ground; on impact or on delay.  Military truck driver recognizes butterfly bomb in oak leaves & tiptoes round it but it explodes putting shrapnel holes in truck.
16:25:57  CU butterfly bomb on gravel.  Military camp, soldier runs into Guard Room & reports butterfly bombs dropping.  Officer picks up phone & reports.  CU wristwatch:  02:50; 03:25.  Men dispatched; march thru camp; officer & sentry to bomb on ground & men rope off area. 
16:28:43  UXB sign chalked.  Men unload sandbags & build wall around butterfly bomb.  Search & mark location of bombs in field.  Wings of bombs w/o explosives found.

Sandbag wall around bomb completed.  Finding empty bomb container in field.  Marking off bomb hole possibly made from unopened full container. 
16:33:50  Map of dock yard & protection.  Man, warden, runs into office & women alert that bomb found.  Men go out to search w/ flashlights aka torches.  Searching.  Butterfly bombs found.  Civil Defense office & men & women at desks & reporting to military.  Telephone operators at switchboards.  Warning sent to all section headquarters.  Messages passed.  Map checked to divert traffic & message sent back to posts.
16:37:11  Men gather equipment.  Marking bomb w/ illuminated UXB sign.
16:38:02  Daytime - butterfly bombs littering East Road, trucks thru dockyard.  Anti-aircraft gun post & firing at German plane; butterfly bomb falls near gunners - quickly sandbagging bomb to protect gun & men.
16:39:40  Destroyer at repair dock - butterfly bomb on deck.  Officer ties cord around it & pulls it overboard using plank & line or rope from behind cover.  Abrupt ending.

11:12:43  Bombers in flight.  5th AAF in Australia.  Battle of the Coral Seas - Naval ships, guns firing; bombers over.  Air to ground, bombs dropped & away over sea.  B-24 on reconnaissance, Japanese warships in Bismark Sea.  5th AAF scramble, planes take off.  Flying at high & low altitude over sea - bombing Japanese fleet / convoy.  Ships smoking.
11:14:55  Animated map - New Guinea, Port Moresby.  Troops onto transport planes.  5th AAF flying supplies & equipment; evacuating wounded on return trips.  Engineers arrive in Port Moresby, bulldozer, men using pickaxes.  Building airstrips in jungle.  Various aircraft bomb & strafe Japanese held Pacific islands & ships.  Plane releases fragmentation bombs on tiny parachutes over jungle, explosions seen from ground.  Planes.
11:16:57  Diagram of USAAF bases on retaken islands - New Guinea & Solomon Islands.  13th Air Force on New Caledonia; 7th Air Force on Hawaii.
11:17:25  Hawaii - Hickham Field entrance, control tower.  Night shot bombers of 7th take off for Marshall Islands.  Diagram showing Wake Island as a base against Gilbert Islands.
11:18:10  Gilbert Island advance base.  Ground crew cleaning guns.  B-25G equipped w/ 75mm cannon.  Aircraft take off - flying in formation - firing machine guns & cannon.  In low over island seen air to air.

Military Documentary:  highlights functions and duties of The Fighting Lady, pseudonym for the USS Yorktown, and crew activities. Maps illustrate movement of Pacific Fleet and its engagement with the Japanese in 1943 and 1944.
Truk, Caroline Islands:
Strafing Japanese ships filled with TNT - explosions.  Bombers return from mission and land on carrier.  Airgroup commander arrives wounded.  Crash landing on carrier.   Wounded on  stretchers. 
21:31:26 Map shows advance from Truk, Caroline Islands, to Kwajalein in Marshalls.  US Fleet en route to Kwajalein:  carriers, cruisers, battleships.  Men relaxing aboard ship and in water - bathing, diving from ship and fooling about.  Ship post office - sorting mail.  Troops given pep talk on deck.  Activities on board - resting - eating - CU serving drinks from fountain and ice cream - watching movies.  Carrier Yorktown underway.  Patrol intercepts Japanese reconnaissance plane - Kawanishi seaplane - downed by hellcats. 
21:38:14  Command meeting.  Map shows route from Kwajalein to  Marianas.  Preparing and loading ammunition and bombs; torpedoes; daisy cutters; rockets.
